Kristy / General Manager
Kristy Boatwright Johnston is the product of the small town of Monroeville, Alabama. She is the daughter of a farmer who was raised riding horses and picking crops from the family garden. Her grandmother was an accomplished cook who could produce great southern dishes from savory to pastry, all from scratch. Kristy credits her grandmother with passing down her love of cooking and hospitality. She says, “I found a love for the food industry early on, being surrounded by fresh food from the garden, the southern delight of a grandmother and the joy all of this brought to our family gatherings. “
After high school, she attended Auburn University where she received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She is also a certified sommelier attaining the Court of Masters Sommelier certification. In 2015, she started her studies with the Court of Masters Sommelier and completed the second level, certified sommelier. Kristy appreciates that wine takes one on a journey, one of great travel, understanding of land, geography and the experiences the grapes go through on any given year. She says it is a great way to see the world through wine. Kristy’s true passion is for wine and for the sheer joy of discovering all she can about wine even as she realizes she will never finish learning. Wine is always changing and constantly evolving. This year, Edward's received the Wine Spectator Award, which is a huge accomplishment.
Her work experience includes stints as Front of House Manager of Café Ponte in Clearwater Florida where she received her first Wine Spectator Award, General Manager at Tastings in St. Petersburg and wine representative for Johnson Brothers in Tampa Florida. Moving closer to 30 A, Kristy has served as the lead server and trainer at The Pearl in Rosemary Beach and currently is the General Manager of Edwards Fine Food and Wine.
On a personal note, Kristy has a 6-month-old beautiful baby girl named Ava who has her heart and her attention. She and her husband love to travel, especially to Oregon to tour wineries and enjoy the beautiful scenic waterfalls and coast. She loves attending concerts and football games, both college and pro. All these experiences and interests make for a well-rounded manager for Edwards Fine Food and Wine.
